Our Goal:
Use human-centered design to help parents during shelter in place. create a product that will make their lives easier and more enjoyable.
Process:
We began with interviewing users. Many of the parents we talked to had struggled the most with balancing their full-time jobs and their children’s school life, often having to act as their child’s teachers.
One family, in particular, inspired us to create this solution. They have a 12-year-old daughter with ADHD and an addiction to her phone, specifically TikTok. Her parents had to step in when she began failing classes as a result of online school, so we attempted to create a fun and engaging way for her to learn in addition to her classes as well as allow her parents and teachers to track her progress.
User Research

These were some of the most influential quotes from our interviews with parents detailing their daily struggles as well as the positives of the stay-at-home order. Getting insight into their experiences led us to our concept of an educational application that connects students, parents, and teachers.
How Might We Statements
We began by understanding our users, then we looked into how we might improve their lives.
We ended with four main statements on how we could create a product that would relate to the pain points of our users and hopefully solve that problem.
Rapid Prototyping
This was our first round of rapid prototyping for an educational app. We used this for our user testing to get user’s feedback.
Using a low-fidelity mockup allowed us to spend more time conducting user testing quickly and collecting feedback easily.
Final Prototype
Our final prototype brought our original brainstorming ideas together with user testing and user feedback into a simple, user-friendly, and helpful educational app. My team and I hope to have created a meaningful product that will alleviate stress for parents and help their children find fun in learning.
